Mandate of SV&ACB

The Vigilance Bureau enquires into:

  1. Any transaction in which a public servant is suspected or alleged to have acted in an improper or corrupt manner.
  2. Any complaint that a public servant had exercised or refrained from exercising his powers with an improper or corrupt motive.
  3. Any complaint of misconduct or lack of integrity or of any malpractices or misdemeanors on the part of a public servant.

Therein the Bureau does the following:

  1. To collect and collate intelligence regarding corruption and corrupt public servants.
  2. To conduct enquiries into the complaints of corruption against public servants.
  3. To conduct investigation of criminal cases involving corruption by the public servants.
  4. To lay traps or conduct raids raids to apprehend corrupt Govt. Servants red-handed while accepting bribes
  5. To furnish reports, when called for , to the Government for issuance for issuance of vigilance clearance certificates ( VCCs) in favor of officers/ officials of the respective Departments.
  6. Advise the Govt on formulating Vigilance related policies, as and when required.
Mission:

To promote integrity in governance by creation of deterrence against corruption through prompt, in depth investigation and successful prosecution of offences.
